A Statistician Shared Why Shardul Thakur Is A Special Cricketer: The Indian bowlers stole the show with their amazing performance on the first day of the first Test match against England at Trent Bridge. The Indian bowlers put on a stellar show as they dominated the game throughout the day and bundled up the England batting line-up for 183 runs.

Shardul Thakur was one of the four fast bowlers to be introduced into the attack earlier in the day. He bowled his heart out and was eventually rewarded for some good bowling in the final session of the day.

Shardul Thakur’s persistence was rewarded with the prized wicket of England skipper Joe Root, who was looking good having scored a fine half-century as well. However, Thakur got one to nip back viciously into Joe Root.

Joe Root was late on the flick and the ball moved to hit his pads right in front. Root’s wicket came at the worst possible time for his team, who had already lost their last three wickets within a gap of 17 runs. The umpire was quick to raise his finger and Root didn’t even bother challenging the call.

Apart from Root, Shardul also dismissed Ollie Robinson for a duck in the same over. Thakur crushed the last hopes of the England cricket team by dismissing Robinson, who had impressed against New Zealand in the debut series in June.

Meanwhile, social media was soon flooded with amazing reactions to the performance of Shardul Thakur. From cricketers, experts to fans, everyone hailed Thakur for his brilliant performance.

Among many, a statistician on Twitter named Umang Pabari also joined the bandwagon and dedicated a tweet to Shardul Thakur. In his tweet, Umang shared why Shardul Thakur is a special cricketer. He revealed that out of the 40 international matches he has played, Thakur had taken a wicket in 30 of them. He wrote:

Shardul Thakur has atleast taken a wicket in 30 out of the 40 international matches that he has played for India. He somehow finds a way to do that. #ENGvsIND”
