Aakash Chopra Tells Why Rohit Sharma Is More Important Than Virat Kohli While Chasing 350+

Aakash Chopra Tells Why Rohit Sharma Is More Important Than Virat Kohli: The Indian bowlers were hammered by the Australian batsmen in two consecutive ODI matches as the hosts posted whopping targets of 374 and 389. While the Australian batsmen took the Indian bowlers to the cleaners, on the other hand, team India barely looked to scale the target as the wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

In the second ODI match, the Indian batsmen including the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya got off to an aggressive start but they couldn’t take their time to the victory side after they failed to chase the target.

At this stage, team India is surely missing the presence of the Hitman Sharma. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra recently opined that the team can only chase massive targets if the top three batsmen fire. In his latest video on YouTube, Aakash said that if at least two of the top three don’t score big, then it is almost impossible for the team to chase such a big target. He said:

“Such a huge run chase can only happen from the top and not from the backend of the innings. It is not possible to actually win this game when you are hoping that you will win this game even after losing three wickets at the top.

“Such a thing is definitely not going to happen. Two of the top three need to fire and firing means that one of them scores almost a century or more than that and the other scores a quickfire 70-80. If either of them does not happen, then you cannot win the match.”

Aakash Chopra feels that team India badly missed Rohit Sharma at the top, especially in the last two big-run chases. He said if Rohit was there in the squad he would have played in a bolder fashion. He said:

“The Indian batting lineup left a lot to be desired in a sense that there were too many runs on the board. If Rohit Sharma had been there, we would have played in a bolder fashion but if he is not there, then there is a loss. If you need to score more than 350, then you need Rohit Sharma, especially in a run chase,”
