Shivam Dube, who received his maiden call-up from the national team for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, failed to set the stage on fire after earning the reputation of a ‘hard-hitting’ batsman all thanks to his blockbuster performances in the last edition of the Ranji Trophy.
Shivam Dube couldn’t leave a mark with the bat as he scored just 1 run in the first game and went wicketless with the ball. In the following game as well, he failed to pick any wicket and didn’t get any chance to bat.
But in the third and final game, he finally got the opportunity to show what he can bring to the table. After scoring 9 runs with the bat, he took three wickets. Perhaps, his performance in the third match was the reason why he retained his position in the team for the upcoming series against West Indies.
Shivam Dube looks all set to find a spot in the Indian squad with Hardik Pandya, who is on his way of recovery. However, Shivam Dube revealed that he is not in the team to replace Hardik Pandya. He said:
“I don’t think it’s an opportunity to replace Hardik but I think I have got a chance and I will try to do well for my country. I have got a job for my country and I will try to do that better,”
He added:
“Everyone is supporting me. The support from the captain and the team management was really good for me. They gave me a lot of confidence. So, I feel really happy and relaxed in the dressing room,”
