Ambati Rayudu Named His India’s Squad For T20 World Cup 2024
Rayudu’s selection of Dinesh Karthik as his wicketkeeper for the mega event came as a surprise to many, considering Karthik hasn’t been in the selection discussion for a while. Several players, including Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Jitesh Sharma, Dhruv Jurel, and KL Rahul, are all vying for the wicketkeeper-batter spot in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
Rayudu opted for the experience of Dinesh Karthik in his T20 World Cup squad, surprising many with the inclusion. Another unexpected addition to Rayudu’s squad is uncapped pacer Mayank Yadav. While his top order comprising Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah was anticipated, Rayudu’s team features a balanced mix of youth and experience.
Rayudu appointed Rohit Sharma as his captain and included Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Riyan Parag, and Rinku in his batting lineup for the upcoming multi-nation tournament. He also selected Dinesh Karthik as his wicketkeeper, citing his experience behind the stumps and his current form with the bat for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2024.
Ambati Rayudu has chosen in-form all-rounders Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja for his team in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, leaving out the struggling Hardik Pandya. Pandya’s form with both bat and ball has been poor, casting doubt on his selection.
In Rayudu’s spin attack, he opted for Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, both of whom are in excellent form in the ongoing IPL 2024. Rayudu believes their spin expertise will strengthen the team’s bowling lineup.
For the fast-bowling attack in the T20 World Cup 2024, Rayudu selected Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, and the uncapped Mayank Yadav.
India’s group stage matches at the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 will be held in the USA, commencing on June 5 in New York against Ireland. A much-anticipated encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan is scheduled at the same venue on June 9.
India will then face the United States on June 12 in New York and play their group match against Canada at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida. India is placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the United States.
