Arjun Tendulkar

Mumbai Indians left-arm seamer Arjun Tendulkar got the third wicket of his IPL career and his first in the powerplay, a role he expected to thrive in with his bowling abilities.

Arjun dismissed Gujarat Titans opener Wriddhiman Saha in what was his second over to open his account in the powerplay, though it was quite a lucky wicket.

In his first 3 matches, Arjun Tendulkar had taken 2 wickets, both outside the powerplay, and had now wicket to show with the new ball, despite his role being that of a powerplay specialist as he’s bowled 2 overs in each match in the first six overs.

Today, he broke that jinx and gave Mumbai Indians a good start with the scalp of the attacking batsman Wriddhiman Saha.

Arjun Tendulkar started off with a tight first over, conceding only 4 runs. On the first ball of his second over, the third of GT’s innings, the 23-year-old dismissed Saha, who would consider himself a touch unlucky to have gotten out caught down the legside while gloving a flick shot through to the wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan.

It was a harmless back-of-length delivery that pitched on leg stump and was going past Saha on his leg side. The batsman, in his motions, decided to flick it with power but missed to put bat on ball and instead gloved it through to Kishan. The umpire gace Saha out, who wasn’t convinced and took a review. Upon DRS, UltraEdge showed a spike as the ball brushed the glove and the on-field decision of out was upheld. Saha had to take the walk back as Arjun Tendulkar roared in delight.
