Ashton Agar, the left-arm spin all-rounder calls Ravindra Jadeja as his favorite player in the world. Both the players fancy a similar playing role for their respective countries and it was no surprise why Agar wants to emulate Jadeja at the international stage.
In the first T20I match against South Africa, Ashton Agar made the headlines with a five-wicket haul at Wanderers in Johannesburg. His match-winning figures of 5/24 included a hat-trick, becoming only the second Australian to account for a T20I hat-trick after Brett Lee.
It was his brilliant bowling spell that helped Australia beat hosts by 107 runs in a convincing fashion in the first T20I. Post his successful outing, Agar reflected upon his bowling performance and how aims to get better with every possible match. He draws inspiration from ace Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and regards him as a ‘Rockstar’ on the field.
Agar, who was part of the Australian squad that toured India in January for the ODI series, mentioned his chat with Jadeja.

“I had a wonderful chat with Ravindra Jadeja after the India series. He’s my favourite player in the world – I want to play cricket like he does. He’s an absolute rockstar: smacks them, gun fielder, and spins the ball,” Agar was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
Agar was in awe of Jadeja’s confidence that reflects in his presence on the field. The 26-year old has picked 41 wickets in his brief playing career for Australia. Going forward, he would hope to produce many match-winning performances and claim a permanent spot in Australia’s white-ball setup.
Jadeja even shared a piece of advice with Agar and the left-arm spinner was quite keen on adapting into his game in the match that follows.
“But it’s just his presence when he’s out there, watching his confidence… just talking to him about spin bowling, keep trying to spin the ball. When he’s batting he has a really positive attitude, and he takes that attitude into the field as well,” he added.
