The number 1 ICC ODI and T20I batsman, Babar Azam is targetting the upcoming two ICC events – T20 World Cup this year in Australia and ODI World Cup next year in India. However, the Pakistani skipper was hilariously roasted on Twitter for stating his ambitions following the ODI series win against West Indies.
Pakistan were ruthless against the West Indies claiming the three-match ODI series 3-0 at home. It was Pakistan’s 10th consecutive ODI series win against the Caribbean side. They have now won five ODIs in a row, and won five of the six series they have played in since the 2019 World Cup.
Babar Azam says his goal is to win next two World Cups
The 27-year-old Pakistani skipper was effusive in praise for his side. Acknowledging his own good form, he boldly stated he’d want to win the next two ICC World Cups for his country.
“We’re performing well in all three departments. And we had different individual performances to win us the games. The unity in the side starts with the dressing room and we have to give our players belief. I give our best 15 confidence, and the best 11 gets a full opportunity,” Babar Azam said.
“No doubt I am enjoying my form. But with this form, my prime goal is to win the two World Cups for Pakistan in the next one-and-a-half years and if that happens I will feel that my runs are worth gold.”
Netizens, though, felt that Babar was being overenthusiastic and overoptimistic given Pakistan’s struggles away from home, especially in countries like England and Australia, where the T20 World Cup will be held.
Fans trolled the Pakistani captain heavily for his statement:

Pakistan’s major test this will come in the Asia Cup against heavyweights India and hosts Sri Lanka where the team’s progress would be clearly noted.
