"I Also Analyse Where I Am Going Wrong" - Babar Azam Reveals His Plan To Come Out Of The Tough Phase

Babar Azam has emerged as a cricket sensation, earning acclaim as one of the finest batters in recent years across all formats. His class and technique set him apart, showcasing a sublime mastery of the game. Azam’s elegant strokes and impeccable timing make him a joy to watch, whether in Tests, ODIs, or T20s.

His consistent run-scoring and adaptability in various conditions underline his class as a batter. Babar’s ability to anchor innings and play aggressive shots with finesse reflects a rare combination of skill and temperament. In modern cricket, he stands tall, symbolizing the epitome of modern batting excellence.

Babar Azam, facing the brunt of Pakistan‘s disappointing performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, took a tough call by stepping down as captain across all formats. The team’s struggle on the big stage weighed heavily on him, and he decided to prioritize the team’s best interests.

Babar’s decision, reflective of his commitment and accountability, showed a captain willing to take responsibility in the face of adversity. Despite the setback, his fans and the onlookers recognized the maturity in his decision, acknowledging that leadership in cricket often demands making tough choices for the greater good.

Babar Azam has endured a challenging period since the onset of the 2023 ODI World Cup, with his struggles becoming more apparent in the subsequent three-game Test series in Australia, culminating in a 3-0 whitewash against Pakistan. Throughout this tough phase, Babar faced relentless criticism and bashing from all corners.

His batting form became a focal point of scrutiny, as he grappled with a prolonged slump, leading to questions about his technique and ability to lead the team. The pressure mounted, and the once-praised captain found himself at the center of intense scrutiny, navigating a turbulent stretch in his cricketing journey.

Babar Azam emphasized the importance of self-analysis in his cricketing journey during an interview with Cricbuzz. He acknowledged engaging in conversations with various individuals to gather insights but highlighted the significance of being one’s own coach. Babar stressed that while others can provide input on technique, the cricketer must internally grasp where he goes wrong. He mentioned reviewing his own practice videos in the nets and having discussions but emphasized the self-awareness required to identify mistakes and determine how to rectify them, asserting that as a batter, one knows best about their own shortcomings.

Babar Azam Reveals His Plan To Come Out Of The Tough Phase

Babar Azam said to Cricbuzz: “Yes of course I talk with a lot of people,. I also analyse where I am going wrong by seeing my own videos in the nets and having discussion over it. But I feel you are your biggest coach. Another person can tell you about technique but you have to understand from within where you are making a mistake and how you can rectify because you know best what mistakes you are committing as a batter.”

Babar Azam highlighted the essence of enjoyment in cricket and emphasized the goal of winning games for his team. He expressed perpetual dissatisfaction with personal achievements, explaining that once a goal is reached, he immediately shifts focus to the next one. Babar described the continuous cycle of setting new targets and making plans to achieve them as the driving force that keeps him motivated. For him, past achievements are in the rearview, and the ongoing quest to score runs and compete with top players remains the constant source of inspiration propelling him forward in his cricketing journey.

Babar added: “Look, the main thing is how much you are enjoying your game and certainly the goal is how I can win games for my team. As far as my own goal is concerned, I am never satisfied because whenever I achieve something, I always focus on my next goal and make plans on how I can achieve that. That keeps me going and it never stops. I always focus on my next goal because what I have achieved is in the past. What is there to be achieved for me – like how I can score runs and how I can match the top players – is something that keeps me motivated.”
