Ben Stokes Reveals That James Anderson Will Be Present In Ashes 2025

James Anderson ended his international career after the first test between England and West Indies at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. England won the game by an innings and 114 runs. The legend retired with 704 wickets in 188 test matches and ended as the third highest wicket taker in the history of test cricket. He is the fast bowler with the most wickets taken in test cricket history. Anderson has influenced the cricket world for 21 years with his swing, seam, accuracy, longevity and the ability to trouble the greatest of batters. He was given a rousing reception at the Lord’s Cricket Ground after he walked out of the stadium for one last time as a player.

However, England test captain, Ben Stokes, hinted that Anderson might be present with the England Cricket Team as a mentor when the side travels to Australia for the Ashes 2025. Anderson himself stated that he will not instruct the bowlers about how to bowl. However, he will be there to help the team and the bowlers if they the team requires him.

“Yeah, definitely. That’s why we’re asking him to stay around. If he’s got the desire to help bowlers progress like he did with his own career, honestly I can’t think of a better person to able to influence all the fast bowlers. I’m really excited to see how that goes,” said Stokes as quoted by Daily Mail.

Anderson added: “I’m definitely not going to tell someone how to bowl. I’ll be a sounding board – I’ll be there if they need me. I’ll watch every ball they bowl and try to help them as much as I can.”

England have struggled in Australia. So, someone of the calibre of Anderson will definitely be a helping hand for the next generation of English bowlers to help them to stabilise themselves in the English team.
