Mahendra Singh Dhoni – a legend, a hero, an inspiration to millions of people out there, chose the auspicious day of Independence Day to retire from international cricket. No big announcement, no press release, no grand farewell, MS Dhoni bid farewell to the game in the typical ‘Mahi way’.
Arguably one of the greatest wicket-keeper batsmen to have ever played the game of cricket, the Ranchi boy achieved everything he could during his glorious career of 16 years. As a skipper of the team, MS Dhoni took the Indian cricket team to new heights, having won all the ICC trophies.
Even after he stepped down from the position of the skipper in 2017, MS Dhoni’s presence on-field continued to do wonders for team India. This is the reason why Dhoni’s retirement has stunned everyone.
MS Dhoni, who made his international debut on 23rd December 2004 against Bangladesh, got out on a duck in an unfortunate manner – run-out. Coincidentally, MS Dhoni last appeared for team India during the semi-final of World Cup 2019, where he had to walk away after suffering a heartbreaking run-out.
Among many, a popular sports journalist named Boria Majumdar took to his social media and revealed what MS Dhoni said to him when he was walking out of the field after getting runout during the semi-final of the World Cup 2019. He revealed that MS Dhoni, whose career started with a run-out has now ended on a run-out. He wrote:
