Breaking: Here's Why India Batsman Mayank Agarwal Has Been Hospitalized

India batsman and Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal was rushed to the ILS Hospital in Agartala on the evening of Tuesday, January 30. He has, thankfully, been reported to be out of danger, at the time of writing.

Mayank Agarwal has been captaining the Karnataka team in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 season. Karnataka played Tripura in Agartala from January 26 to 29, and are due to play Railways in Surat from Thursday.

It has been learned that Mayank Agarwal felt discomfort when boarding the plane from Agartala airport for Surat.

Why has Mayank Agarwal been admitted to a hospital?

When boarding the plane for Surat in Agartala, Mayank Agarwal complained of a burning sensation in his mouth and throat and he was rushed to the ILS Hospital in Agartala. He has been cleared of any danger right now and is doing fine.

Recently, Agarwal won the award at the BCCI awards for scoring the most runs in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season. However, that still didn’t earn him a recall to the Test team as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are now the preferred openers.

The right-hander has been in good form in the ongoing Ranji season. He has amassed 310 runs in 4 games at an average of 44 with two centuries to his name.

Given his health scare right now, Agarwal is certain to miss at least Karnataka’s next game, against Railways in Surat. It remains unclear what has exactly happened to him and how long will he be out of action.

In the IPL 2024, he is part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad.

Agarwal last played a Test match for India in March 2022. With his struggles in overseas conditions and the rise of Shubman Gill, he was dropped from the Test team. He currently averages 41 after 21 Tests.
