Captaincy is something Rohit Sharma has taken a great liking to in the absence of Virat Kohli. Thought things didn’t start the way like he would have wanted them to as Indian faced a disastrous defeat in Dharamshala.
But then fortunes changed and India defeated Sri Lanka heftily in the ODI series under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
As for the ongoing T20 series India has already written in its favour by winning both the matches. Today as India walks out to play the third match and finish the series formally, Rohit Sharma would look to equalise MS Dhoni’s record.
In the second T20 at Indore Rohit broke a few records including the one for the fastest T20 century and also for having hit most sixes in a calendar year.
A new record awaits Rohit
MS Dhoni is the only Indian captain to have whitewashed an opponent in the T20 series. Under his captaincy India decimated the Aussies at their home in the year 2016.
Now if Rohit ends the already won series with a win then Rohit Sharma who got the captaincy opportunity in the absence of Virat Kohli has an opportunity to get another record to his name. India wouldn’t want to settle for anything less than a series whitewash and Rohit would surely be excited to claim this record.
