The Indian Test skipper, Virat Kohli, who was ruled out of the ongoing second Test match because of health issues, will be fit very as per India’s senior batter Cheteshwar Pujara. For the unversed, Virat Kohli had to miss the ongoing Johannesburg test match because of an upper back spasm he sustained. The news came out when KL Rahul walked out for the toss instead of Virat Kohli.
The news was confirmed by the stand-in skipper back then. Soon, the BCCI via their official Twitter handle also updated that the skipper has suffered an upper back spasm and he won’t be available for the second match. BCCI released a statement that read:
“Team India Captain Mr Virat Kohli had a spasm on his upper back this morning. He won’t feature in the second Test against South Africa at The Wanderers. The BCCI medical team will be monitoring him during the course of this Test match,”
Meanwhile, India’s senior batter Cheteshwar Pujara has provided a much-needed update on Virat Kohli’s injury after the end of day 3. Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored a fighting half-century in the second innings, revealed that the Indian red-ball captain is recovering well and he will be fit very soon.
Speaking in a press conference, Pujara said: “Officially, I can’t say much but yes, he is definitely getting better and I feel that he will be fit soon. The physio can answer this better and I am sure an update will come from the BCCI very soon,”
