India’s middle-order batter and former Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane continues with his poor form as he once again failed to leave a mark with his performance in the ongoing series decider match against South Africa in Cape Town.
Ajinkya Rahane had notched India’s highest score in Johannesburg – a solid 58 (78) in the second innings, after getting dismissed on a duck in the first innings. Although, the knock came after a series of low scores and in a losing cause as India lost the game but it extended his Test career to the series decider.
Walking into the third and final Test match, a lot was expected from Ajinkya Rahane, who is often hailed as ‘Team’s player’, however, Rahane has once again left everyone disappointed with his performance.
Ajinkya Rahane’s wicket put India in a spot of bother as they have now lost their fourth wicket in the ongoing third Test match. Virat Kohli is still batting and is going strong against the Proteas attack. Kohli is joined by Rishabh Pant after another failure from the veteran batters — Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane.
While Pujara still managed to contribute some runs with Kohli for a 59-run third-wicket stand, scoring 43 runs. On the other hand, However, Rahane could only manage to score 9 runs and was dismissed after a stunning delivery from Kagiso Rabada. Not just this, the former vice-captain also wasted a review.
