Rajasthan Royals started the Indian Premier League by winning the title despite being the underdogs. But after the first edition, things have been cold for them and facing a ban for two years on charges of spot-fixing only made things worse.

They would be keen to make their comeback count and for that, they would need to build a great team. During the retentions, the Rajasthan Royals retained only one player in Steve Smith, the Aussie captain.
We have tried to formulate a right combination of playing XI for the Rajasthan Royals. Here is how our IDEAL PLAYING XI FOR THE RAJASTHAN ROYALS LOOKS LIKE.
Openers
Ajinkya Rahane
Jason Roy
Rahane and Roy would make a perfect opening pair for the Rajasthan Royals. Both have a lot of experience and can make any bowling attack suit them. Ajinkya Rahane and Jason Roy will form a good combination. Roy has a strike rate of 134 in T20Is while Rahane also enjoys a good strike rate in the shortest format of the game.
Middle Order
One Down: Steve Smith (captain)
Two Down: Yusuf Pathan
Three Down: Dinesh Karthik (Wk)
Four Down: Sanju Samson

This forms a solid middle order with Steve Smith leading the middle order. Steve Smith is a great leader and he knows how to marshal his troops well. Yusuf Pathan, Dinesh Karthik and Sanju Samson are all experienced campaigners.
All Rounders
Chris Woakes
Washington Sundar
Waokes is a great all-rounder and has a great strike rate too. He is also very valuable bowler who can be used as a bowler to bowl his full quota of 4 overs.
Pacers
Vinay Kumar
Josh Hazlewood
Kuldeep Yadav

Josh Hazlewood leading the Rajasthan Royals pace attack is the best thing that could happen to them. He is one fine bowler and deadly accurate.
