Cricket World Cup: List Of Batsmen Who Have Scored A Duck Most Number Of Times

Cricket World Cup: A duck is the least wanted outcome for any batsman. Every batsman wishes to contribute to his team’s cause by scoring runs. No batter in the world would want to leave the pitch without at least opening his account.

It would hurt a batter even more when he gets out for a duck in the WC. For, it is the biggest stage any player can play for his team and a platform where he’s dreamt of performing well and doing well for his team and country.

Today we will tell you about the batsman who has most number of ducks in WC history (ODI World Cups only).

Who has the most number of ducks in ODI Cricket World Cup?

New Zealand’s Nathan Astle and Pakistan’s Ijaz Ahmed hold the record for most number of ducks in ODI WC history – both bagged 5 ducks each in their careers in WC.

Both Nathan Astle and Ijaz Ahmed were respected batters in their country. But they failed 5 times each in WC to even open their accounts and were dismissed for five ducks. While Astle played in 22 innings, Ahmed had 5 ducks in 29 innings.

Next, there are 7 batsmen, including the great South African batter AB de Villiers, who were dismissed for four ducks each in the ODI WC tournaments.

This list of batters with 4 ducks has some really big names, including AB de Villiers, England captain Eoin Morgan, West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo, India opener Kris Srikkanth, and Pakistan icon Inzamam-ul-Haq. Kyle McCallan (Ireland) and Keith Arthurton (West Indies) are also in this tally.

Which Indian batsman has the most ducks in the World Cup?

Former India opener Kris Srikkanth, who was part of the 1983 World Cup win, has the most number of ducks for an Indian in World Cup – four ducks.
