Former South African fast bowler and current Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling coach Dale Steyn shared his thoughts on Royal Challengers Bangalore’s chances of winning IPL 2024. Despite being part of the league for 16 years, RCB has never won the title.
Dale Steyn Made A Big Prediction Ahead Of IPL 2024
In an exclusive interview with Star Sports, Dale Steyn pointed out that while Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has had some of the IPL’s best players, their inconsistent bowling lineup has often caused them to falter in tournaments. He expressed skepticism about RCB’s chances of winning the title this season, suggesting that it might be another challenging year for the team.
“RCB has had some of the best players that the IPL has seen in the squad however they have somehow not managed to get over the line. I think one of RCB’s biggest hurdles is that they don’t have a structured or consistent bowling line-up. Every season they seem to change their bowlers and new bowlers are coming in but their batters remain the same. “

Like previous seasons, RCB boasts a formidable batting lineup, anchored by their top-order batsmen including skipper Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Glenn Maxwell. They made a significant addition to their squad by acquiring Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who is expected to bat at No. 5 and provide an extra pace-bowling option.
The team also focused on bolstering their pace attack in the auction by signing foreign pacers such as Alzarri Joseph, Tom Curran, and Lockie Ferguson.
With du Plessis, Maxwell, and Green expected to take up three of the four foreign player slots, only one of the newly signed pacers will secure a place in RCB’s playing XI. Mohammed Siraj is a guaranteed pick, leaving Yash Dayal and Akash Deep to compete for the remaining spot.
RCB is facing a shortage of quality spin bowlers, relying heavily on veteran spinner Karn Sharma, inexperienced Mayank Dagar, and part-time spin from Maxwell. Given the uncertainties in their bowling lineup, RCB may continue to depend on their batting prowess, a strategy that has yet to result in a championship.
