Dale Steyn Makes A Controversial Comment Against R Ashwin: Ravichandran Ashwin’s attempted run during the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) has stirred controversy. It has become one of the most discussed topics in the world of cricket.
During a match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, Ravi Ashwin attempted a run after the ball had ricocheted off the non-striker’s arm (Rishabh Pant). And the same has sparked a debate on the ‘spirit of cricket’.
Former cricketer Dale Steyn, who last played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 12th season of the Indian Premier League in 2019, talked about the extra run taken by Ravichandran Ashwin, which has stirred controversy.
Speaking on a chat show on ESPNCricinfo, Dale Steyn said that he would have personally not attempted an extra run in that situation. He said:
“Everyone plays the game the way they want to play it. Personally I would not run, if I knew that it had hit the other batter, the way that I play is the way that I practice. I don’t practice running when the ball has hit the opposite batter. I will be more proud of my performances if they came the way I have been practicing,”
The veteran pacer also made a controversial statement about R Ashwin by saying that he is someone who likes to squeeze every rule that he can get out of the book to his advantage and concluded by saying that he can’t blame Ashwin for what he did at the moment. He said:
“But the laws of the game allow it, and Ashwin is somebody who will squeeze every rule that he can out of the book to his advantage, and that is the way he likes to play. It is not the way that I would play, but cannot hold it against him,”
Earlier, Ashwin also broke his silence on the matter. He took to his Twitter and posted a long thread explaining what exactly happened on the field.

4. Did I fight?
No, I stood up for myself and that’s what my teachers and parents taught me to do and pls teach your children to stand up for themselves.
In Morgan or Southee’s world of cricket they can choose and stick to what they believe is right or wrong but do not have the— Ashwin ?? (@ashwinravi99) September 30, 2021
