"My Girlfriend Says That My TV Is Broken..." - Dale Steyn On MS Dhoni's Impact In IPL 2024

In IPL 2024, there’s a strong sentiment among fans and experts that this might be MS Dhoni’s final season, marking the end of an illustrious career. Dhoni, the former captain, passed on the leadership to Ruturaj Gaikwad before the tournament began but continues to play a pivotal role in the team as a wicketkeeper-batsman.

Dhoni hasn’t had many opportunities to showcase his batting prowess for CSK this season, primarily due to his lower position in the batting order. Across four innings, he has accumulated a total of 59 runs, with his highest score being an unbeaten 37.

Meanwhile, impressed by Dhoni’s brilliance with the bat, Steyn revealed his desire to see more of Dhoni’s batting appearances in the tournament. Speaking on Dhoni’s impact, South Africa legend Dale Steyn said:

Not only has it engulfed the IPL. That’s engulfed many South Africa and myself, to be honest with you, I don’t watch a lot of TV, but I seem to be glued to the seat when the IPL is on my girlfriend says that my TV is broken, it’s stuck on cricket right now IPL and watching MS the other night. That’s exactly what we want to do.”

“You know, I’ve been on the receiving end of it before. I’ve watched it from a fan’s point of view, I loved it. I mean, I am a much better mood because of what I’ve just seen. So can we get more of MS Dhoni out in the middle? That would be great,” he further added on Jio Cinema.

Dhoni showcased a vintage performance during the IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians, where he smashed three consecutive sixes, scoring 20 runs off just 4 deliveries with a remarkable strike rate of 500.

The young wicketkeeper scoring those three sixes helped us a lot, that proved to be the difference. We needed those 10-15 extra runs for this kind of venue,” CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad said.
