David Warner hits fifty in ODI vs Zimbabwe

Earlier in the day, Warner was involved in an ODI match against Zimbabwe, the second of the series.

In the first ODI, on the gone by Sunday, Warner scored 57 runs off 66 balls with the help of 7 fours and one six. He made the chase of look 201 even more easier than it was already. Cameron Green was Australia’s star with the ball, picking up a maiden ODI five-wicket haul, and bundling Zimbabwe for 200.

Steve Smith scored 48* in the first ODI, completing the run-chase. Smith did it again on Wednesday: in the second ODI, Smith, once again, remained unbeaten on 47 in Australia’s run-chase of the paltry target of 97. Warner, this time, though, managed only 13 runs before being dismissed by Richard Ngarava.

Mitchell Starc, in this game, bagged the Player of the Match award for his devastating figures of 8-1-24-3; Starc dismissed Zimbabwe’s top-three in his new-ball spell to put Australia in the advantage. Later, Adam Zampa and Cameron Green cleaned things up sharing five wickets between them.

Australia now have an unassailable 2-0 series lead. The third and last ODI will be played on Saturday. All the matches are being played at the Tony Ireland Stadium, Townsville in Queensland.
