Apart from his cricketing greatness, it’s his jolly, amiable nature and generous character that has made him one of the most loved overseas players in India.

That kind and helpful trait of his was once again on display on Monday as he helped the ground staff in Lucknow put on the covers on the ground and the pitch as rain arrived during the AUS vs SL World Cup 2023 match.

Australia played Sri Lanka in an important group-stage encounter on Tuesday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Both teams were coming off two losses in their first two games.

Sri Lanka batted first. During the 33rd over of Sri Lanka’s innings, rain arrived unexpectedly in Lucknow. Although it was a mild drizzle, the umpires decided to take the players off and not play in the rain.

While all the Australian players took off from the field, David Warner observed the Lucknow groundsmen bringing on the covers quickly to cover the pitch and the bowling area.

Seeing them, David Warner promptly decided to join and help them despite knowing that while running on the wet ground, he could slip and get injured. But the Aussie star put his body at risk of running on a wet ground and helped the groundsmen drag the covers on the pitch and the square.

This brilliant gesture from David Warner went viral on social media as he helped the Lucknow ground staff:
