Australia’s star opener David Warner played an eventful knock during his team’s thrilling win over Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in the just-concluded T20i World Cup 2021. The star opener, who was going through a rough patch with his bat for the last few months now, made a solid return with his bat in the just-concluded T20i World Cup 2021.

Warner, who was getting badly criticized for his form made a stunning return to his form and let his bat do the talking. He played an instrumental role in taking his side to the finals of the mega-event. He stole the show with his batting heroics in the Semi-final match against Pakistan and gave back-to-back amazing performances to help his team make it to the finals.

On Sunday, Warner achieved a special feat. as he became the highest run-getter for his side in the T20i World Cup 2021. He played a vintage knock of 53 runs off 38 balls as he smashed the Kiwi bowlers for 4 boundaries and 3 sixes. Later, he was awarded the Player of the Match trophy for his amazing performances in the tournament for Australia.

After the match, during the post-match conference, Warner talked about his performances in the high-voltage tournament. He revealed how he always wanted to put on a great spectacle for his side in the World Cup. He said:

“Always felt really well. Didn’t get much time in the middle in the two practice matches obviously. But for me, it was about going back to basics. Going too hard, synthetic wickets and try to hit some balls,”

He added:

“Definitely up there with 2015. Being part of the World Cup final against England a decade ago definitely hurt. These guys are a great bunch of guys. Great support staff, great team, great support back home. Just wanted to put on a great spectacle for everyone. Bit of nerves around with a good score on the board. Just great to see the guys deliver,”

David Warner, who was a part of the 2010 T20 World Cup final when Australia lost to England. Now Warner has won both — the ODI and T20 World Titles. The star batsman lauded his teammates for their brilliant batting performances throughout the tournament. Before the mega-event, he and his team had lost 5 consecutive T20i series before the World Cup. Praising the efforts  team, Warner said:
