David Warner’s Net Worth After He Played His Last Ashes Test

David Warner is one of the biggest names in world cricket and, with no debate, one of the greatest all-format opener the game has ever seen.

He burst onto the scene in 2008 as a T20 gun batter – he became the first batsman since 1877 to debut for Australia before playing even first-class cricket. He announced himself to the world by smashing 89 from 43 balls on T20I debut against South Africa. David Warner made his Test debut in 2011 and notched up his maiden Test ton in just his second Test.

It didn’t take much time for Warner to cement his position as Australia’s marauder at the top of the order in all three formats, and soon big-money IPL contract came his way.

After speanding his first five seasons at Delhi Daredevils, Warner moved to new franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and became the face of the franchise by taking them to their first and yet only IPL title in 2016. After a fallout with the management in the 2021 season, Warner returned to Delhi (now Capitals) in 2022.

While he’s been a behemoth in white-ball cricket, Warner often gets chastised and criticised for his ordinary numbers away from home in Test cricket. In Tests, he averages a brilliant 58 at home, but that averages falls to an mediocre 32 away from home.

He’s even a poor record in England: average of 26 in 19 Tests. He didn’t do much to improve his numbers in England in the recently-concluded Ashes 2023 series, where he finished with an average of 28 with only 2 half-centuries in 10 innings.

This tour of England, where he also became a World Test Champion, was certaintly the last Test tour of England for David Warner. The 36-year-old has already expressed his desire to retire from Test cricket in the home season at his home ground in Sydney later this year when Australia host Pakistan.
