Young and talented keeper-batter Ishan Kishan impressed one and all with his performances in the just-concluded three-match ODI series against West Indies. He played a crucial role in India’s win in the series as he smashed half-centuries in all three games.
With his third fifty at the Brian Lara Stadium in the 3rd ODI match, he joined the likes of MS Dhoni, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Mohammed Azharuddin among others in an elite group of players who smashed fifties in all the games of a series.
Ishan Kishan’s Savage Reply To Aakash Chopra
Besides his impressive batting, Kishan was brilliant behind the stumps as well. He was also involved in a hilarious incident, where he co-incidentally brutally trolled the former Indian cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra.
The incident occurred during Windies’ innings when Ishan tried to stump out a batter by removing his bails but the batter survived. Team India decided to go for the review.
While the TV umpire was still reviewing the call, Aakash Chopra, who was doing commentary for Jio Cinema at the time alongwith former pacer RP Singh and Nikhil Chopra, compared Kishan with MS Dhoni and trolled him. Chopra’s dig at Ishan was about MSD’s lightning-fast work behind the wickets. He said:
“Bhaut rare hota hai ki aap vo stumping ya run-out ke dismissal ko review kare. Pair abhi to mujhe zameen par dikh raha hai waise (replay of the delivery). Dekhiye aap aate Ranchi se hai Ishan, lekin aapka naam Mahendra Singh Dhoni nahi hai,” Chopra said on air on JioCinema.
In a hilarious coincidence, just as Chopra’s dialogue ended, Ishan was heard saying: “Haan phir theek hai” as if he was hearing what Chopra said about him and responded.
The savage reply by Ishan made Chopra and his fellow commentators burst out in laughter. Chopra learned about Ishan’s response immediately and added, “Ishan ne jawab bhi diya hai dekho. How sweet Ishan, we love you.”
And Kishan once again responded “Haan phir theek hai”.
