Ishan Kishan Revealed How Rishabh Pant Helped Him Score His Maiden Fifty

India’s young and talented Ishan Kishan was handed a golden chance to Ishan Kishan in India’s final Test innings in the West Indies tour. While India’s decision to send Ishan ahead of an experienced Virat Kohli at No.4 was nothing less than a risk but he repaid the faith of the team with a whirlwind knock en route to a maiden half-century. He played an unbeaten knock of 52 off 34, that helped team India set up a target of 365 runs against the home team.

Later, after the game, Ishan Kishan revealed how a conversation with Rishabh Pant helped him notch up that score.

For the unversed, it would have been Pat as the keeper-batter for team India in the ongoing Test series ideally, as it would have been in the WTC Final last month and also for the Border-Gavaskar series at home earlier this year. However, the star keeper-batter is currently on the road to recovery after he narrowly survived a tragic car accident. As he recovers the Indian side made significant progress.

Ishan Kishan

Talking about Ishan’s knock, he was sent ahead of Virat Kohli and the youngster smashed four boundaries and two sixes in his unbeaten 52 to help India score 181 for two on Day 4.

After the day’s proceedings, Ishan revealed how Pant’s advice during his interaction at the NCA helped him prepare for the series. He revealed:

I was at NCA before coming here. I was practising there and Rishabh was also there for his rehab. He just got a few points for me. He asked me to you know, the bat position and everything because he, had seen me playing with him. We have played together so many matches. We have been together since U-19. So he knows how I play, what my mindset is. So you just help me a little bit with my bat position and everything, so otherwise I think I also wanted someone to tell me a few things about my batting and it was a great time for him to come and chat with me and really thankful for that,”

It has to be noted that Ishan Kishan was seen playing with the bat that had RP17 written on it. RP17 means Rishabh Pant and 17 is his jersey number.
