Before celebrating his birthday, the young and talented opener Ishan Kishan made his Test debut in the first Test match against the West Indies. He smashed his first-ever Test run for the Indian cricket team in the series opener against Windies, while skipper Rohit slammed his 10th red-ball century. Notably, Rohit only declared the Indian innings after the youngster scored his first run in the series opener at Dominica.

Rohit Sharma, who shares a good camaraderie with Kishan, was asked about the birthday gift he has given to his junior. Speaking to the reporters, Rohit insisted birthday boy Kishan score a century in his next game for the visitors. When the reporters asked Rohit about the birthday gift, he said:

What birthday gift he wants? Kya chahiye bhai tereko?’ (What do you want brother?) You have everything,”

He added: “We should ask the team about this. It should be the team’s contribution. Birthday gift tu hum logo ko dey bhai 100 – run karkey (You should give us a birthday gift by scoring 100 runs),”

Rohit Sharma’s reply made everyone from reporters to even Kishan himself, everyone burst out laughing. The video of the same has been going viral on the internet. Watch it here:

Meanwhile, the Indian players will be seen back in action in the second Test match against West Indies, which will also be the 100th encounter between the two teams in the longest format. Talking about the second Test match, Rohit Sharma admitted that the West Indies will make a comeback in the series decider after suffering defeat at the hands of the visitors. He said:

It’s an honour to be taking the Indian team into this game and it doesn’t happen every day. The two teams have so much history, so much of good cricket played. I will expect no different in this Test. I am sure they (Windies) will bounce back and it will be exciting for both teams,”
