[Fact Check] Did Sara Tendulkar Wish For Shubman Gill’s Recovery From Dengue On Twitter?

Shubman Gill

Even before they could get their World Cup 2023 campaign underway, Team India have been given a big jolt in the form of Shubman Gill testing positive for dengue.

The 24-year-old opener had reportedly tested positive for dengue upon landing in Chennai, where India will kick-start their WC 2023 tournament against Australia on Sunday. Gill was also spotted wearing a mask, the only member of the group to do so.

Although head coach Rahul Dravid has insisted that the medical team hasn’t yet ruled out Shubman Gill from the match on Sunday, and that he’s feeling better, it seems highly unlikely that he will recover completely in time to play the fixture against Australia, that too in the high heat of Chennai.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, a post has been going viral in which fans believe Sara Tendulkar, the daughter of Sachin Tendulkar, who is rumored to be dating Shubman Gill, has wished for Gill’s speedy recovery from dengue.

On Friday, this Twitter account which has Twitter handle @imsaratendulkar, on Friday posted a picture of Shubman Gill and captioned it “Get well soon #ShubmanGill 💙🇮🇳”

This post went viral on social media in quick time and it has already received over 80,000 likes on Twitter, which is a big deal to get on Twitter.

What is the truth?

A few fans fell for this and got deceived into believing that this indeed was a post from Sara. However, that is not the truth. This is not Sara Tendulkar’s account, in fact, she is not on Twitter.

Will Shubman Gill play vs Australia in World Cup 2023?

Although sources say that Gill will not recover from dengue in time to play on Sunday in Chennai vs Australia, Dravid remains optimistic.

“He’s certainly feeling better today,” Dravid said on Friday. “The medical team is monitoring on daily basis. We have 36 hours, we’ll see what decision they take. He’s certainly feeling better today.”

“Medical team hasn’t ruled him out as yet. We’ll keep monitoring him on a day to day basis. We’ll see how he feels day after tomorrow.”
