India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been receiving praise from all corners, as he has impressed everyone with his captaincy style. The Pandya-led Indian cricket team registered a 1-0 win in the recently-concluded 3-match series against New Zealand. The rain-affected final match ended in a tie based on the DLS method in Napier on Tuesday, November 22. Earlier the first match was abandoned due to rain and the 2nd T20I match went in India’s favor as they defeated the Kiwis by 65 runs.
With this win, team India maintained their unbeaten run under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. He had earlier led India to a 2-0 series win in Ireland and now India has won the series in New Zealand 1-0 under him.
Meanwhile, following the win, veteran keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik gave his verdict on whether selectors should lock in on Hardik as the future India captain. It has to be noted that, Hardik Pandya has been immensely touted by veterans and experts of the game to take over the reins in the shortest format of the game, replacing Rohit Sharma, after Team India’s yet another failure in the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2022 and also considering the age of Rohit.
In an interaction with Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik stated that Hardik impressed him with his decisions on-field. He said: “He had a very good series albeit it being a very short series. I think in the limited time that he was on the field, he called all the right shots. What was important even today was that when India were behind, when New Zealand were batting in the 15th over, to pull it back with the right bowling changes and the right field set was good to watch. And then obviously makes a statement with the bat. It shows a leader who is willing to express himself and who is willing to walk the talk,”
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya will now head home as Shikhar Dhawan will take the charge of Indian cricket team to lead the side in the upcoming 3-match ODI series, starting Friday.
