England Cricket Team Is Getting Trolled Badly After Batting Collapse In 1st ODI

IND vs ENG: It wasn’t really a collapse. Because collapses are shocking, and out of nowhere. A collapse comes after a partnership. At The Oval in the first England-India ODI, England didn’t have their partnership until it was too late.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to see first his bowlers produce a terrific bowling performance, cleaning up England for only 110.

In the batting powerplay, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami wreaked havoc upon the hosts’ batting line-up, and by the time the 15th over was done with Praisdh Krishna also getting into the act, the visitors had effectively sealed the game. England lost 5 wickets in the first 8 overs and were 8 down, including the dismissal of skipper Jos Buttler, by the 17-over mark.

Jasprit Bumrah finishes with 6/19 in 1st IND vs ENG ODI

Jasprit Bumrah, in particular, was staggeringly devastating throughout, as he claimed only his second ODI five-wicket haul in his 71st ODI game, as he, and the other pacers, made full use of the swinging and seaming conditions in London.

Four of England’s top six were dismissed for a duck; their new skipper Jos Buttler scored 30 and was caught in the deep.

Bumrah started off with a double-wicket maiden – Jason Roy chopped on his sticks, inside-edging a drive, while Joe Root, the most in-form Test batsman at the moment, edged a short and outside off-stump delivery to wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, both dismissed for ducks.

Shami, from the other end, had Ben Stokes, for duck again, inside-edging while playing a defensive shot through to Pant. Bumrah picked two more – Jonny Bairstow’s outside-edge brilliantly taken one-handed by Pant and Liam Livingstone was castled by an inswinging yorker after he had skipped down the track and looked to flick it on legside.

Shami had Buttler caught in the deep and Krishna had Moeen Ali caught and bowled.

Bumrah’s bowling figures by the end of his first spell of five overs read: 5-2-9-4. He then took bowled two tailenders to end with his first ODI six-wicket haul. Bumrah’s 6/19 is now the third-best bowling figures by an Indian in ODIs.

The England team, hailed as the revolutIonary one in their history, got trolled mercilessly for putting up an embarrassing show with the bat in the first ODI.

Fans on Twitter trolled England with some hilarious tweets and memes. Here are some of them:
