India is battling the second wave of COVID-19 currently and the whole country has been facing the consequences.  On Sunday, India reported over 300,000 new infections (352,991 cases to be exact) of COVID-19 for the fifth straight day, which took the total caseload to over 1.73 crores.

Meanwhile, the COVID anxiety has reached inside the bio-bubble of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Owing to the critical situation of the country, three Australian players – Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, and Andrew Tye – recently pulled out of the ongoing season of IPL to return back to their home.

After the match last night, KKR’s skipper Eoin Morgan also talked about the ongoing grim COVID-19 situation in India. He admitted that playing in a situation like this is nothing sort of a challenge.

Further sharing his thoughts on the pandemic, Eoin Morgan urged everyone to follow COVID-19 related restrictions. He also wished everyone well and hoped that we all can beat this thing together. He said:

“It’s challenging, and things have to be managed for the players and staff, and we know the horrific nature of what’s happening outside the bubble. We try and lend our support, and we’ve seen how devastating it is not only in India but around the world. If you’re going out, stay safe, wear a mask, maintain social distance. We’ve seen huge amounts of tough times, even at home. On behalf of KKR ,we wish everyone well. We can stick together; we can beat this thing.”

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, KKR’s star pacer Pat Cummins won everyone’s heart with his gesture as he donated a whopping amount of $50,000 to the ‘PM Cares Fund’ for the purchase of oxygen supplies in Indian hospitals. A number of Coronavirus patients in the country succumbed to death in recent days owing to the absence of oxygen cylinders.

Earlier, India’s star bowler R Ashwin pulled out of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League in order to be with his family and extended family who are fighting COVID right now. In his tweet, Ashwin revealed how his family and extended family are batting against COVID-19 and he would like to support them through tough times. He also wrote that he expects to return once things are normal. He wrote:

“I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals”
