India won the second T20I of the ongoing series against England in the most thrilling manner. England needed just runs to win off the last over and they had 5 wickets in hand. India’s young fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was given the responsibility of bowling the last over and he not only defended the total but impressed one and all with his brilliant skills and solid temperament.

After the match, India’s captain Virat Kohli revealed what advice he gave to Jasprit Bumrah before the last ball of the match was bowled. England needed 6 runs off the last ball and young Bumrah went up to his captain for advice.

“Bumrah was asking me what to do every ball. I just told him to back his skills. Even if it goes for a six, you still wake up tomorrow. It’s not the end of the world,” said Kohli at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Bumrah also hailed his captain’s advice and said that confidence Kohli gives him is always helpful. He also added that Virat has given him freedom to do whatever he wants to.

“Captain’s confidence always helps. He’s given me the freedom of doing whatever I want to. So I can stick to my strengths. The confidence is always helpful,” he said.

Talking about the last over, Bumrah said that considering the size of the ground and slow nature of the wicket, he decided to bowl more slower back of the length deliveries. Many believe that Bumrah’s biggest strength is to bowl yorkers but he proved in the second T20I that as a fast bowler, he has many more tricks up his sleeves.

“I tried to assess the wicket. I tried to learn from whatever I saw in the first innings. On this wicket, I thought it’s a big ground and it’s on the slower side, so back of the length deliveries and slower balls worked well,” said Bumrah after getting the Man of the Match award.
