Amid the Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma captaincy saga, the latest rumor regarding the Mumbai Indians is that Sachin Tendulkar, their icon and legend, has reportedly resigned as MI’s mentor.
After Hardik Pandya was traded and made the captain of the Mumbai Indians, there seems to be some sort of unrest among the players and the management.
After cryptic Instagram story posts from Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav, and no statement from Rohit Sharma about the change of the captaincy at Mumbai Indians, the rumor from Saturday night has been that Sachin Tendulkar has stepped down from his role of mentor at Mumbai Indians.
Since his retirement in 2013, Sachin Tendulkar has been the mentor of the Mumbai Indians. He is often seen in the MI dressing room and dugouts and traveling with the team.
Seeing the rumors of Sachin Tendulkar, too, reportedly being unhappy with the disputes and chaos among the Mumbai Indians players, it was believed that the legend had also decided to part ways with the franchise in any official role.
So is this rumor true? Has Sachin Tendulkar resigned as Mumbai Indians’ mentor?

No, it was confirmed on Sunday evening that Sachin Tendulkar has not resigned as Mumbai’s mentor, and will continue in his role in IPL 2024.
Speaking on Hardik’s appointment as their new skipper, Mahela Jayawardene, the Global Head of Performance of the Mumbai Indians, said that this decision was made with the future in mind.
Jayawardene said: “It is part of legacy building and staying true to the MI philosophy of being future-ready. Mumbai Indians have always been blessed with exceptional leadership right from Sachin to Harbhajan and Ricky to Rohit, who while contributing to the immediate success have always had an eye on strengthening the team for the future. It is in keeping with this philosophy that Hardik Pandya will assume captaincy of Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2024 season. We welcome Hardik Pandya as the new captain of MI and wish him all the very best.”
