Fans And Experts React After Sourav Ganguly Announced The New Venue For T20 World Cup

The much-awaited T20 World Cup, which was scheduled ot be held in India, is now being shifted to the UAE owing to the health safety concerns posed by the Coronavirus. On Monday, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly finally made it official, ending weeks of speculation surrounding the mega-event in October-November this year. Ganguly said:

“We have officially intimated the ICC that the T20 World Cup can be shifted to the United Arab Emirates. The details are being chalked out,”

He added:

“The decision was taken keeping health safety concerns of all stakeholders in mind,” 

When asked if October 17 has been finalized as the date of the tournament. Responding to this, Ganguly said:

“We will be able to finalise itinerary details in some days.October 17 start hasn’t yet been finalised.”

Meanwhile, as soon as the statements were released, social media was flooded with reactions from the fans to it. Among many, popular commentator and analysts, Harsha Bhogle also took to his Twitter and expressed his views on the changed venue for the high-voltage tournament.

“It was inevitable that the #ICCT20WorldCup would have to move to the UAE. Hopefully we will get excellent pitches and large playing areas again and that will be great for the tournament.”
