With the 3-match T20I series leveled at 1-1, the Indian cricket team is taking on New Zealand in the ongoing 3rd and final T20I match in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.  India won the toss and elected to bat first at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Hardik Pandya announced the playing XI and it became clear that Prithvi Shaw will once again warm the bench as Ishan Kishan got another chance.

Prithvi Shaw was added to the Indian squad after a long time for the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand. However, the Indian team management decided to play Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan as openers despite their poor form in the shortest format. Shaw was expected to end his international cricket exile in Ahmedabad. He was expected to replace Shubman Gill in the playing XI for the final T20I match against New Zealand. However, to everyone’s dismissal, he was once again left out of the opportunity.

India vs New Zealand, 3rd T20I: With series on the line, will Team India play Prithvi Shaw? | Cricket News - Times of India

The decision of team management to rest Shaw again didn’t sit well with the cricket fans, who took to social media to slam the Indian team management for leaving the explosive Mumbai batsman out once again. Ishan Kishan got out for just 1 run in India’s innings and it poured more fuel on the fans’ anger as they felt that Shaw should have got the opportunity given that there are no T20I games for India in the coming months after the ongoing series.
