Cheteshwar Pujara is an IPL Champion now!: Chennai Super Kings ended their journey in IPL 2021 with a bang after lifting their fourth IPL title by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final showdown by 27 runs. Interestingly, India’s Test specialist, Cheteshwar Pujara, who is hailed as the modern-day wall of the Indian Test cricket team was also a part of the IPL-winning squad of Chennai Super Kings.
The auction hall roared to applause the management of CSK for their great gesture of honoring Cheteshwar Pujara with a bid in the auction. However, Pujara was mocked ahead of the just-concluded 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, when he drafted himself for the auction for INR 50 Lakh. While all the teams passed on him, Chennai Super Kings raised their placard and got Pujara in their team.
Even before the tournament began, several experts and fans had predicted that there is no way that Pujara will get a chance to appear in the Playing XI in any game, and this is exactly what happened. Pujara didn’t get the chance to play even a single ball throughout the IPL 2021.
However, when Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders to lift their 4th IPL trophy, Pujara was an IPL champion as much as his skipper MS Dhoni was. While the whole team became the ‘champions’ of IPL 2021, fans feel that it was Cheteshwar Pujara, who should be crowned as the real champion.
Meanwhile, social media has been buzzing with hilarious tweets from the fans, who are trolling some of the biggest names of the cricketing industry including the likes of — Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle as they are yet to win an IPL trophy.
