Fans of Rohit Sharma were left disappointed after the rumors of him taking over the captaincy of the white-ball format were rubbished by the BCCI. Well, yesterday a report in the Times of India had claimed that Virat Kohli is all set to step down from the limited-overs captaincy after the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE this year and Rohit will take over the duties.

The report stated that Virat has already informed the team management and Rohit Sharma about his decision so that he can focus on his batting by getting rid of his captaincy duties in ODIs and T20Is.

Fans React After BCCI Rubbished Reports Of Rohit Sharma Taking Over Captaincy

Virat Kohli took over the responsibilities of the skipper after MS Dhoni stepped down in 2017 and has since made team India one of the most dominant teams across formats. Virat Kohli has established himself as a skipper, in all the three formats of the game, among one of the all-time greats, however, he is yet to win an ICC Trophy.

However, on Monday, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal rubbished the reports of split captaincy in team India. Arun Dhumal asserted that Virat will continue as the skipper of team India across all three formats and that Rohit will not take over as the white-ball skipper. He said:

“This is all rubbish. Nothing (as) such is happening. This is all what you guys (media) are talking about. BCCI has not met or discussed anything on this issue (split captaincy),” Dhumal told IANS. “Virat will remain as the captain (of all formats),”

Meanwhile, after BCCI rubbished all the rumors of Rohit Sharma taking over the captaincy in the white-ball format of the game. Rohit’s fans, who were elated after the reports of Rohit taking over the captaincy, were left disappointed now. Fans came up with hilarious memes and jokes while reacting to the situation. There were many who started trolling the Times of India for spreading rumors.
