India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ODI World Cup 2023 because of the ankle injury that he suffered in a match against Bangladesh on October 19th. The ICC via an official statement has confirmed that the 30-year-old has failed to recover in time to be a part of the rest of the campaign.

Hardik Pandya Ruled Out Of Remainder Of World Cup 2023

Hardik Pandya had twisted his ankle and landed awkwardly during the game against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19. He limped off the field and was immediately taken for the scans. He was ruled out of action for the rest of the game. He has subsequently missed India’s next three matches against New Zealand, England, and Sri Lanka.

Hardik Pandya Has Been Ruled Out Of Cricket World Cup 2023; Replacement Announced

The team management and captain Rohit Sharma were positive about Hardik Pandya’s return, who is currently been undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the NCA, that he would be fit for the semifinals, which India qualified for on Thursday after defeating Sri Lanka.

However, Pandya has failed to recover in time to be a part of the squad for the remaining campaign. The news was shared by ICC via their official account. The statement read:

“Pandya hurt his left ankle while bowling during India’s World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune last month and it has now been confirmed that the 30-year-old has failed to recover in time to part of the rest of the campaign,”

Hardik’s Replacement Has Been Announced

Prasidh Krishna has been named as Hardik Pandya’s replacement in the squad.

Notably, Prasidh Krishna recently returned to the international fold following a year-long injury setback. Krishna has just 19 white-ball appearances to his name for India and was last seen at international level.

After getting ruled out of the World Cup 2023, Hardik took to his Twitter and shared a heartfelt note for his fans. The Tweet read: “Tough to digest the fact that I will miss out on the remaining part of the World Cup. I’ll be with the team, in spirit, cheering them on every ball of every game.
