Former South Africa cricketer Herschelle Gibbs has left everyone shocked as he claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is threatening him and doing everything possible to prevent him from playing Kashmir Premier League.
Well, Herschelle made these allegations public via his official Twitter handle where he revealed how BCCI has been threatening him by saying that they won’t allow his entry into India for any cricket-related work if he participates in Kashmir Premier League. He wrote:
“Completely unnecessary of the @BCCI to bring their political agenda with Pakistan into the equation and trying to prevent me playing in the @kpl_20. Also threatening me saying they won’t allow me entry into India for any cricket related work. Ludicrous”

For the unversed, the Kashmir Premier League is a tournament that was conceived by a Pakistani politician called Shehryar Khan Afridi. This tournament will have six teams including — Overseas Warriors, Muzaffarabad Tigers, Rawalakot Hawks, Bagh Stallions, Mirpur Royals, and Kotli Lions. Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez, Shahid Afridi, Shadab Khan, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal will be leading these teams as skippers respectively.
Each team will feature five players from the “Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK)”, the area which has always remained disputed between India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the tweet went viral in no time and has been making rounds on the internet. Fans on social media came up with mixed reactions to the tweet. While there were a few who started slamming the BCCI, on the other hand, there were people who praised BCCI for the bold move and schooled Gibbs over the issue.
Here, check out the reactions of Twitterati on this:
Don’t be so naive, Herschelle. If you want to play the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Premier League, then even as a cricket fan, I would request the @BCCI to never allow you to enter India for cricket related work. Nothing is more important to us than our motherland.

KPL itself is a political statement Herschelle. By wanting to play in it, you are becoming part of a political agenda. This of course will have conse quen ces here in India. Well-done @BCCI @SGanguly99.

I don’t think really it’s a threat. You can’t always goes for two ways, Harschelle. You’ve to choose one from it.

According to Indian Govt., the whole Kashmir is ours. and if Pakistan are conducting any cricketing event on our soil, then BCCI has right to take an action. You should have done some research before tweeting. Disappointing.

According to Herschelle Gibbs the person issuing the threat to him to not participate in the Kashmir Premier League was BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. Gibbs has stated that the warning was sent to CSA Director of Cricket Graeme Smith who passed the message on to Gibbs #KPL2021 #Cricket

More power to you @BCCI
Kashmir and Kashmiris are integral part of India
If a foreign player is looking to be part of Kashmir Premier League in Pakistan, he is directly or indirectly endorsing Pak’s illegal occupation, attacks on Indian soil, India’s Army & brave soldiers.. https://t.co/d3MZLVmsKt
