India’s sensational bowler Jasprit Bumrah has etched his name in the history books by becoming the fastest Indian speedster to reach 100 Test wickets. Jasprit reached the milestone on the afternoon of the ongoing final day of the 4th Test match against England at the Oval in London.
Before this, the record of the fastest Indian pacer to reach 100 Test wickets was held by the legendary Indian cricketer and World Cup hero Kapil Dev. Bumrah has achieved the feat in just his 24th Test, breaking Kapil Dev’s record of 25 Tests.
Jasprit was 99 after he dismissed England’s opener, Haseeb Hameed, for a duck in the 65th over of England’s innings during the first innings of the Oval Test, reached the 100-mark after he dismissed f Ollie Pope for 2 on day 5 of the fourth Test.
Jasprit, who is hailed as the number 1 bowler in the world right now, started the ongoing Test with 97 wickets to his name, brought the Indian side right back into the 4th Test by picking two early wickets in the first innings. Now, on the final day as well, Bumrah has impressed one and all with his magical spell as he has already picked two crucial wickets. At the time of publishing this article, Bumrah’s spell record read: 17-8-20-2.
