MS Dhoni, who has been leading the Chennai Super Kings ever since the inception of the Indian Premier League, has handed over the captaincy baton to Ravindra Jadeja. The decision comes two days prior to the start of the upcoming 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Confirming the news, Chennai Super Kings released an official statement regarding the same. The statement read:

“MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond.”

MS Dhoni, who has led the Chennai Super Kings to victory four times, could be playing in his last IPL this season. Ravindra Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead Chennai Super Kings.

As soon as the news of MS Dhoni stepping down from the captaincy came out, social media was flooded with reactions from the fans to it. Fans were left heartbroken with the news as it marks an end of an era for Chennai Super Kings.

Here, check out the reactions of Twitterati on this:

MS dropping himself from captaincy pretty much means it’s gonna be his last one. Don’t see him continuing after this season. Now i really want them to wanna win this season somehow. Man deserves a wholesome farewell atleast in some form of cricket.

People thought watching Virat Kohli not captaining RCB would be difficult. Can’t even imagine to think MS Dhoni not walking out for the toss when CSK play. #IPL2022
