Nicholas Pooran served as the captain of LSG today, as they wanted to give KL Rahul the rest while fielding as he was returning from a lengthy injury. Pooran won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 199 runs in their 20 overs. Quinton De Kock scored 54 runs off 38 balls, KL Rahul scored 15 runs off 9 balls, Pooran scored 42 off 21 balls while Krunal Pandya finished off the inning with 43 runs off 22 balls.
In reply, Punjab Kings were off to a fast start, as captain Shikhar Dhawan scored 70 runs off 50 balls, Jonny Bairstow scored 42 runs off 29 balls. However, LSG unleashed the ferocious Indian fast bowler Mayank Yadav. He consistently bowled at over 145kph and even clocking speeds over 150kph. He bowled the fastest delivery of IPL 2024 at 155.8. He picked up 3 wickets in his 4 overs and gave away just 27 runs. He completely turned the tide in LSG’s favour. As a result, LSG managed to beat PBKS by a margin of 21 runs and get their first win on the board in IPL 2024. He was the main reason why Punjab Kings stumbled after a comfortable start.
