Indian opening star Rohit Sharma finally made a strong comeback as he reached the three-figure mark in the ongoing second Test against England in Chennai.
After Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli made their way to the pavilion, Rohit played a sublime knock to keep team India in the hunt for a good score. Rohit displayed his class from the word go and displayed some stunning shots. He reached his fifty off just 47 deliveries.
Rohit Sharma looked like a man on the mission right from the start of the game. The ‘Hitman Sharma’ of the cricket world showed pure class on an unpredictable pitch, which was offering occasional uneven bounce and sharp turn.
On the other hand, team India lost three quick wickets in the first session itself. Shubman Gill was dismissed by Olly Stone before he could open his account. However, Rohit formed a decent partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara for 85-run stand, before Pujara was dismissed. Kohli too followed Pujara after he was dismissed for a duck.
However, Rohit didn’t let the pressure get to his head as he kept playing the cracking shots. By lunchtime, Rohit had already scored 80 runs. He finally reached his hundred off 130 balls in the 42nd over. He smashed 14 fours and 2 sixes, as he brought his century.
