Prize money for India vs Australia WTC final winner and runners-up

On Friday, the ICC announced the prize money for the winners and runner-ups of the much-awaited World Test Championship final between India and Australia, which is scheduled to be played at The Oval, England from June 7th to 11th.

Prize Money For WTC Final 2023

ICC stated that the WTC Final 2023 between India and Australia will have a major boost for both sides as the winners will receive $1.6 million (Rs 13.2 crore) as prize money. The losing finalists will collect $800,000 (Rs 6.5 crore).

Notably, the prize money of the WTC tournament remains the same as it was for the inaugural edition of the championship (2019-2021) with a total purse of $3.8 million (Rs 31.4 crore approximately).

The New Zealand cricket team won the inaugural trophy by defeating the Indian cricket team in the final. Besides this, all the nine teams who were a part of the World Test Championship cycle will receive a share in the $3.8 million purse with South Africa earning $450,000 (Rs 3.72 crore) for finishing third in the 2021-2023 standings.

England will receive $350,000 (Rs 2.89 crore) for finishing their campaign in 4th position. Sri Lanka, who finished fifth in the standings, will earn $200,000 (Rs 1.65 crore).

The rest of the teams including New Zealand (No.6), Pakistan (No.7), West Indies (No.8), and Bangladesh (No.9) will receive a sum of $100,000 (Rs 82.65 Lakh) each.

Team India started training for the WTC Final 2023:

The first batch of Indian players including the likes of Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav have already kickstarted their training ahead of the big game under the guidance of India’s support staff led by head coach Rahul Dravid.
