Many Indian cricket fans believe that Indian cricket team’s captain Virat Kohli is the fittest Indian cricketer. In the last 4 years, Virat Kohli has worked extremely hard on his body and fitness and it would be fair to say he is one of the fittest cricketers in the world.
Virat Kohli has inspired many young Indian cricketers to give equal importance their fitness, and, as a result, most of the Indian cricketers spend a lot of their time un gym and keep themselves on a very strict diet.
Also, after Ravi Shastri’s appointment as India’s head coach, players have been warned to keep up the fitness level and this will surely motivate Indian cricketers to work harder on their fitness.
Recently, a fitness test named ‘Yo Yo’ test was conducted simultaneously in Kandy and at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and results were compared to know who was the fittest amongst the lot and monitor their level.
Yuvraj Singh, who was dropped for the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka, failed the test. He fared poorly in the test conducted at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. His score of around 13 in the YoYo test is below the average requirement for a cricketer.
However, Yuvraj’s good old buddy MS Dhoni did outstandingly well in the YoYo drill and came third overall in the ratings when compared with other members.
Interestingly, Virat Kohli is not the fittest Indian cricketer as per this test. According to sources, Virat has been piped to the post by Manish Pandey, who has the highest score of 19.2 as compared to Virat’s score of 19.
Manish Pandey is a very exciting young batsman who has done well for India in his short international career so far. He is a very gutsy cricketer who can play his natural game even under pressure situations.
