The cricket fans around the world were left in a state of shock after the most celebrated skipper of India decided to hang his boots last year. The legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni stepped down from the international circuit last year in August.

Following, the announcement of his retirement, several experts and fans added that the Indian skipper deserves a grand farewell but couldn’t get any.

In the same light, former India selector Sarandeep Singh talked about Dhoni’s retirement and added why the best limited-overs captain of India couldn’t get a farewell match. Well, recently, in an interview with News Nation, Sarandeep stated that MS Dhoni was eyeing the ICC T20 World Cup 2020, however, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He revealed:

“Dhoni could not get a farewell due to the postponement of the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia last year. Dhoni retired as soon as this tournament was postponed due to Coronavirus. “

He added:

“Had the World Cup been played last year, Dhoni would have definitely played in it and his farewell match would have happened,”

Along with MS Dhoni, his teammate and great friend Suresh Raina had also announced his retirement from the international circuit. Both the cricketers were together at that time in CSK camp when they announced their retirement.

Meanwhile, MSD was last seen plying his trade for his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021, which was suspended mid-way because of the COVID-19 outbreak within the bio-bubble. He would be seen leading his team again when IPL 2021 will resume in the UAE.
