Gautam Gambhir Comments On The India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Match: One of the biggest rivals of the cricket world – India and Pakistan – will resume their on-field rivalry when both the teams will come forward to lock horns in the ICC T20 World Cup on October 24 in a group-stage encounter. The high-voltage clash has become one of the most-awaited and most-talked about clashes in the cricket fraternity right now.

Recently, in an interview with Star Sports, former Indian cricketer and World Cup hero Gautam Gambhir talked about the much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash, where he claimed that the Pakistan cricket team will be under a ‘lot of pressure’ when they will lock horns with India.

Gambhir has predicted the high-voltage clash to end up in India’s favor as India is ‘far superior to Pakistan’. He said:

“I am sure it will add a lot of pressure on Pakistan because India has got 5-0 on Pakistan (World Cups). We should not be talking about whether there will be pressure on India, there is going to be a lot of pressure on Pakistan because the expectations are going to be high in Pakistan as well.”

He added:

“At the moment if you see, India is far superior to Pakistan. Yes, in a T20 format, anyone can beat anyone. We should not take any team for granted, teams like Afghanistan can create upsets. It’s the same with Pakistan. But there will be pressure on Pakistan,”

Furthermore, Gambhir also pointed out how both the countries will be relieved to get the high-voltage encounter out of their way early in the tournament, which will help them to focus on the rest of the tournament in a better way.

He also recalled how the same happened to them during the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007, where India won their first match at a T20 World Cup which was against Pakistan in 2007. He revealed after the match they were able to focus on the rest of the tournament better. He revealed:

“When we won the 2007 T20 World Cup, our first game was against Scotland which was washed out. Practically, our first game was against Pakistan. That’s exactly what I mentioned. It’s important to play Pakistan in the early stages of the competition. You don’t want to keep thinking about Pakistan. You can finish it off early and then concentrate on the rest of the tournament. It’s going to be the same for the fans and the rest of the country. In fact, I am really happy for both countries that they are going to play against each other early,”

Earlier, Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam had warned India and other teams participating in the high-voltage tournament as the conditions are in Pakistan’s favor. Recently, speaking on the official ICC Website, Babar Azam said for Pakistan T20 World Cup is like a home event. He also stated how the team has nurtured their talent and developed their side playing in the UAE, which is the venue for the T20 WC.
