Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni is regarded as the most successful skippers of the Indian cricket team, having achieved almost everything, which is there to achieve in the cricket world. He is the only Indian cricketer to have won all the ICC trophies — T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, and ICC Champions Trophy. MS Dhoni has also won the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan award and has etched his name in the history books.

Reflecting on Dhoni’s success as the skipper of the Indian cricket team, former Indian cricketer and current BJP politician, Gautam Gambhir said that MS Dhoni was ‘very lucky’ as a skipper, to get a very amazing team in all the formats of the game, which eventually helped in him winning all the accolades he has won so far.

Gambhir further claimed that Dhoni reaped the benefits of the hard work that was put in by Sourav Ganguly. He said:

“Dhoni has been a very lucky captain because he got an amazing team in every format. Captaining the 2011 World Cup team was very easy for Dhoni because we had players like Sachin (Tendulkar), (Virender) Sehwag, myself, Yuvraj (Singh), Yusuf (Pathan), Virat (Kohli) so he had got the best teams. Ganguly had to work very hard for it, and as a result, Dhoni won so many trophies.”

Gautam Gambhir also showered praises on the legendary Indian pacer Zaheer Khan for Dhoni’s success in the longest format of the game. Gambhir said:

“The reason Dhoni became such a successful captain in Test cricket is because of Zaheer Khan. He was a big blessing that Dhoni got, for which credit goes to Ganguly. According to me, Zaheer has been India’s best world class bowler,”
