Gautam Gambhir Is Getting Hilariously Trolled After MS Dhoni Was Named As India’s Mentor For T20 WC

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir found himself at the receiving end of trolling on Twitter after the news of legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni being named the mentor of the Indian squad for the much-awaited T20 World Cup 2021 came out.

On September 08, 2021, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-man Indian main squad and three reserve players for the T20 World Cup 2021, which will kickstart in October in the UAE. The final showdown of the tournament will be played on November 14.

MS Dhoni, who took his retirement from international cricket in August 2020, as a cricketer, he last played for India in the semifinal of the ICC 2019 World Cup in England against New Zealand. Though he scored a half-century but he failed to help his team cross the finishing line. The skipper will make a comeback for the Indian cricket team but in a totally different avatar and fans are as excited as they could get.

In a press conference, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said: “Former India Captain M S Dhoni to mentor the team for the T20 World Cup,”

He added:

“(I) spoke to him in Dubai. He agreed to be mentor for WT20 only and I discussed with my colleagues and all are on same page. I spoke to captain (Virat Kohli) and vice captain (Rohit Shamra) and everyone agreed,”

Meanwhile, netizens couldn’t keep calm after the news came out. MSDians around the country celebrated the great news by flooding social media with their amazing tweets and posts for the former cricketer. Several cricketers and pundits also applauded the masterstroke decision of the BCCI. However, there was a section of people on social media, who took this as an opportunity to troll the former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir.

After the news came out, in no time, Gautam Gambhir was trending on social media as fans trolled him left, right and center.

For the unversed, the cricketer turned politician has made many controversial statements against the former skipper in the past. Gambhir’s remarks about Dhoni and his form during his playing days and even after his retirement have made the loyal MS Dhoni fans against Gautam Gambhir.
