All rumours and speculations about rift between Gautam Gambhir and Virat were put to rest when Gambhir and Kohli were spotted sharing a laugh and practicing together after Gambhir was selected as a replacement for KL Rahul after the first Test of the ongoing series against New Zealand.

After Gambhir and Kohli’s on-field spat in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2013), fans and media speculated that Gambhir will never make a comeback under Virat’s captaincy. Time and again, many reports suggested that Kohli and Gambhir don’t get along well and there’s rift between these two after they shared an ugly moment in Bangalore in IPL 2013.

But in an interview to Times of India, one of Gautam Gambhir’s close friend has revealed that both the gentlemen dined together after their on-field fight in the IPL. A report from Times of India carries excerpts of a friend who knows Gambhir well and calls him extremely jovial, a prankster and has no issues with either Kohli or MS Dhoni as it is perceived to be.

‘Cheeks’ and ‘Bhaiya’

“It’s the sheer desire to win at all costs that brought out the conflict between Virat and Gautam. In fact, both he and Virat dined in his Taj Gardenia hotel room the day they fought in Bangalore in 2013, but sadly, these things never get reported,” Gambhir close friend said.

“Both admire each other and Gambhir calls Virat `Cheeks,’ while Virat addresses him as `Bhaiya.’ Both love Man United (Manchester United) and PlayStations, and are even currently together in the gym in Indore with Team India trainer Shanker Basu,” the close friend added.

No problem with MS Dhoni

“He never tweeted against any individual’s movie. All he said was that the Indian soldiers deserve a biopic more than a sportsperson. He doesn’t feel that MSD was responsible for his exit,“ the close friend revealed to Times of India.
