Graeme Smith Slammed Harbhajan Singh For His 'Bad Umpiring' Remark After PAK's Defeat To SA

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh was furious at the DRS and felt that it was ‘bad umpiring’ that cost the Pakistan cricket team the game against South Africa. A nail-biting encounter between both the sides saw the clash go right to the wire and it was South Africa, that eventually won the game by 1 wicket over Pakistan at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.

However, the thrilling clash had its own share of controversies. In fact, the game ended on a controversial note where Tabraiz Shamsi survived a close LBW call courtesy of the umpire’s call. Bowling his final over, with the Pakistan cricket team just needing one wicket to win, Haris Rauf hit Tabraiz Shamsi’s pads and appealed for LBW.

It looked very close at first glance but the on-field umpire gave it not out. Pakistan team wasn’t satisfied with the result, therefore, they decided to challenge the on-field call and the replay showed that the ball was hitting the stumps on the umpire’s call.

Harbhajan Singh Made A Controversial Tweet

After the match, Harbhajan Singh took to his social media and referred to the same incident. Bhajji expressed his disappointment and claimed that it was because of the ‘DRS’ and ‘bad umpiring’ that Pakistan lost the game. He wrote:

“Bad umpiring and bad rules cost Pakistan this game.. @ICC should change this rule .. if the ball is hitting the stump that’s out whether umpire gave out or not out doesn’t matter.. otherwise what is the use of technology??? @TheRealPCB vs #SouthAfrica #worldcup”

However, his tweet didn’t go down well with many. South African cricketer Graeme Smith was quick to notice the Tweet and come up with a reply to it. Smith responded this by pointing to the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen when he was adjudged LBW off the bowling of Usama Mir. After South Africa took the review, it was shown that it was umpire’s call leading to Van der Dussen‘s dismissal.
